The Sultan Ahmed Ali Dinar Relief and Humanitarian Operations Foundation, Qadah Al Sultan, has provided meals to thousands of displaced people at Nifasha Camp in North Darfur as humanitarian needs continue to rise.
The initiative was implemented under the guidance of Sultan Ahmed Ali Dinar, Sultan of Darfur, through the Foundation’s Takia community kitchen programme.
Nifasha Camp continues to receive families displaced by conflict from Tawila, Qulu, Qarni, Kurma and surrounding areas. The growing number of arrivals has placed further pressure on already limited food, water, health and other basic services.
Through the Takia programme, the Foundation prepared and distributed meals to families facing increasingly difficult living conditions.
Speaking about the initiative, Sultan Ahmed Ali Dinar said humanitarian support must continue to reach communities affected by displacement.
“Many families have been forced to leave their homes with very little and are now living under extremely difficult conditions. Providing a meal may seem simple, but for a family facing hunger and uncertainty, it matters. We must continue doing what we can to support them.”
Community representatives at Nifasha Camp welcomed the intervention and called for continued humanitarian assistance as more families arrive.
Mayor Ahmed Yahya Hamed said the daily movement of displaced families into the camp was increasing pressure on the limited resources available to residents. He also acknowledged the work of the Foundation and the continued follow-up by Sultan Ahmed Ali Dinar’s adviser, Professor Mahdi Hussein, in Nifasha, Abuja and other communities in North Darfur.
The Takia initiative forms part of Qadah Al Sultan’s wider humanitarian work supporting displaced families and vulnerable communities affected by the conflict.
Sultan Ahmed Ali Dinar said the scale of the humanitarian situation requires sustained support.
“Our responsibility is to remain present with our communities during these difficult times. Food assistance is one part of that responsibility. Families also need water, healthcare and the basic conditions that allow them to live with dignity.”
The Foundation will continue working with community representatives to identify urgent needs and support families affected by displacement across North Darfur.
