Sultan Ahmed Ali Dinar has launched a comprehensive cleaning, maintenance and rehabilitation initiative for Al-Fashir University as part of wider efforts to support the restoration of essential institutions in El Fasher.
The campaign is being implemented through the Supreme Committee of the Sultan Ahmed Ali Dinar Initiative for the Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Al-Fashir University, chaired by Professor Adam Hassan Haj Youssef.
The first phase has brought together young people, women, students, community leaders and volunteers to clean university facilities, remove the effects of prolonged neglect and prepare lecture halls for the eventual return of students.
Speaking about the initiative, Sultan Ahmed Ali Dinar said the rehabilitation of the university is about more than restoring buildings.
“Al-Fashir University has educated generations of Sudanese. Restoring its facilities means giving students the opportunity to return to their studies and giving young people hope after a long period of disruption.”
The cleaning and environmental rehabilitation work will continue for fifteen days before moving into the next stages of maintenance and restoration.
The aim is to create a safe and suitable environment that will allow academic activities to resume progressively as conditions permit.
Sultan Ahmed Ali Dinar also welcomed the strong participation of the local community.
“What we are seeing at Al-Fashir University is a strong sense of collective responsibility. The university belongs to the community, and its recovery requires all of us to play a part.”
Education remains a central part of the recovery of El Fasher. Restoring universities and other learning institutions is essential to giving young people stability, rebuilding confidence and helping communities return gradually to normal life.
Sultan Ahmed Ali Dinar expressed his appreciation to Professor Adam Hassan Haj Youssef, members of the Supreme Committee, the university community and all volunteers taking part in the campaign.
“I hope this initiative will be one of many steps towards restoring educational institutions and essential public services in El Fasher. Our young people deserve the opportunity to learn, develop and look towards the future with confidence.”
The rehabilitation of Al-Fashir University forms part of broader community efforts to restore public institutions and support the gradual return of services across the city.
