The Sultan Ahmed Ali Dinar Relief and Humanitarian Foundation has distributed food baskets to 5,000 displaced families in Tawila and surrounding camps as part of its continuing humanitarian response in North Darfur.
The initiative was implemented under the patronage of Sultan Ahmed Ali Dinar, Sultan of Darfur, in response to growing food insecurity and the difficult living conditions facing families displaced by the conflict.
The food baskets were directed to some of the most vulnerable households, many of whom continue to face limited access to food and other basic services.
Speaking about the initiative, Sultan Ahmed Ali Dinar said support for displaced communities remains an urgent responsibility.
“Families in Tawila have endured displacement, loss and great uncertainty. At this moment, our priority is to respond to the most immediate needs and help families maintain their dignity through this difficult period.”
The Foundation said the distribution forms part of its wider humanitarian work supporting communities affected by war and displacement.
Families receiving the assistance welcomed the intervention and highlighted the continuing need for support in food, water, health, education and shelter.
For Sultan Ahmed Ali Dinar, the scale of the humanitarian situation requires continued attention from community institutions, humanitarian organisations and partners.
“Food assistance is essential, but the needs of displaced families go much further. People need clean water, healthcare, education for their children and safe shelter. These are basic needs that must remain at the centre of the humanitarian response.”
The Foundation will continue supporting vulnerable communities in North Darfur while assessing opportunities to expand assistance where resources allow.
The Tawila distribution is one of several recent initiatives undertaken by the Sultan Ahmed Ali Dinar Relief and Humanitarian Foundation to support families affected by the conflict and strengthen community-level humanitarian response.
