About His Highness
His Highness Sultan Ahmed Ali Dinar is the 30th Sultan of Darfur, a Sudanese business leader, investor and humanitarian whose work spans traditional leadership, institution building, education, humanitarian assistance, peacebuilding and cultural heritage. Installed as Sultan in 2016, he continues a lineage that has served the Sultanate of Darfur for more than five centuries.
As Sultan, His Highness serves as custodian of the traditions, values and historical identity of Darfur. His role combines traditional leadership with public service and the development of institutions capable of responding to contemporary needs. Through engagement with governments, traditional leaders, universities, humanitarian organisations, businesses and development partners, he works to strengthen opportunities for Sudanese communities while maintaining the continuity and dignity of the Sultanate.
His Highness is also the Founder and Chairman of Dinar Holding Group and Dinar Holding Kenya. Through these institutions, he promotes investment, enterprise and stronger commercial relationships between Africa, Türkiye and wider international markets. The Group’s interests include construction, real estate, hospitality, executive travel, logistics and international trade.
His institutional leadership extends to higher education and heritage preservation. As Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bakht Al-Reda University, he supports the University’s strategic development, academic growth and opportunities for Sudanese students. He also chairs the Sultan Ali Dinar Museum and Palace, the Sultan Ali Dinar Islamic Complex and the Sultan Ali Dinar Endowments.
Humanitarian programmes supported under his leadership include Ramadan food distribution, Eid Al-Adha livestock assistance, emergency relief, support for internally displaced Sudanese families, assistance to refugees from Darfur, scholarships, student support, Hajj sponsorship, support for Islamic schools and wider community welfare initiatives.
His Highness has participated in national, regional and international peace initiatives, including support for the Juba Agreement for the Peace of Sudan and the Sultan Ahmed Dinar Initiative for Peaceful Coexistence and Community Peace. His international engagements bring together peacebuilding, investment, education, cultural relations and humanitarian cooperation. Across these areas, his leadership is guided by the belief that leadership is measured by the institutions built, the people served and the opportunities created for future generations.
